SURFER : TEEN CONFRONTS FEAR
“An absolutely unique example of the kind of mesmerizing outsider art that keeps cinema alive. This is unlike anything you’ve ever seen, and probably unlike anything you ever will see.” – J Hurtado, ScreenAnarchy.com
A mythical film that has been doing the midnight movie circuits across the world since its release in 2018, Surfer: Teen Confronts Fear has made headlines for its unique plot, low budget and unusual production. Frequently compared to “The Room”, Surfer has gained a loyal following of cult film fans that love exploring the furthest reaches of fringe filmmaking.
When a teenage boy wipes out on the biggest wave of his life, he develops a fear of the ocean. That’s when the ghost of his father returns, created from electricity and squid, to instill in him the courage to return to the water and go to Bali.
Directed by Douglas Burk. Written by Douglas Burk. Produced by Douglas Burke. Starring Douglas Burk. Music by Douglas Burk & Alex Hughes.
