What The Film Club is coming to Cultplex, Manchester for a screening of the cult classic B movie, Samurai Cop.

Cultplex - a cosy cinema, light with red light taken from behind the audience.

After taking the  summer off (to sit in our underwear and play Minecraft) What The Film Club will be coming back on August 13 with our first screening at Cultplex MCR.

Cultplex (CPX) is an indie cinema that was previously known that was previously known as Chapeltown Picture House before the pandemic forced them to relocate and reinvent. Since 2021 it’s been serving Manchester audiences cult pop culture on the big screen alongside tv/comedy/gaming/sports so it seemed like a perfect place to start our Manchester screenings. Plus nobody else replied back to our emails…..

The screening will be another showing of one of our audience favourites, Samurai Cop, the infamously crappy but loveable 80’s action flick. Tickets are currently on sale so if you are in Manchester don’t miss it. And even if you aren’t based in Manchester, our earlier showtime means that it’s easy for you to get a train back to whatever hellhole you came from, after the film. We’ll probably see you on the train. So it’s a great chance to check us out if you haven’t been able to make it to our Leeds screenings.

While we don’t have any more confirmed screenings with Cultplex beyond this one, we’re hoping to show more of our favourite films so far at the venue, as well as some exclusive events that might lean more into the tv and gaming community that CPX have built up.

We’ve also planned a heck of a lot more screenings to take us right through into the New Year – not everything is confirmed but we will be doing an annoucement about our upcoming screenings near the start of August so, Leeds folks, stay tuned for more updates.
